It was all going a little too smoothly.

So, I haven't been posting for a few reasons. 1. I love reading all the other blogs. You ladies and gentlemen of infertility bloglandia are fascinating. 2. I don't really know what to write about. 3. I go to bed at 8pm because I'm so tired. I have all the normal pregnancy symptoms, morning and evening sickenss sans vomiting, extreme fatigue, huge boobies etc etc but it seems kind of boring to write about that. I just don't have the ability that some people do to make it funny or interesting. My body, trying to help with my lack of posting decided to give me something to write about. Last night I started some brown spotting/flow. Help me out here ladies because I have difficulty with the definition. Spotting is pretty easy- You have spots on your knickers, but flow.......when does spotting become flow? What is the definition? I am sailing in murky waters and believe me it is murky down there. I have spotting but when I wipe there is quite liquidy brown stuff on the TP. Isn't that flow? I need a second opinion- someone who can hang out in my bathroom so I can do a quick consultation. I would love to hear your experiences, advice, even assvice about your friends, sisters sister-in laws cousin twice removed who had exactly the same thing and went on to deliver twins even though all along she was only expecting a singleton. In this case it will make me feel better. I did call the clinic this morning and they had be come in for a P4 level. It is above 40 (they won't have a more exact number today) which the nurse says is perfect. I have been off the PIO for 10 days and am on vaginal supps twice a day. Tomorrow I see Dr Ding-Dong for an U/S just to put my mind at rest. The nurse said she is not at all worried but she knows I won't be at ease until I get an U/S. She feels that maybe the second gestational sac that is non viable is causing this. They are so nice at my clinic. They get it. In my heart I feel that everythig is ok for now but my mind is working overtime with all the what if's. I have some very mild cramping and I'm scared. I'm glad I only have to wait until tomorrow to check that everything is ok.

Quite honestly I've never been able to distinguish between flow, full flow, spotting and all the various other terms used to describe such stuff. It's still a mystery to me!
I'm sorry you're going through this and are so scared. But I'm glad your clinic is being responsive - hopefully your worries will ease a bit after tomorrow's scan.

I am in no way qualified to give any medical advice but it might be the second sac (without yolk) has been lost (if this is the case, I'm really sorry).
On my first IVF, I had a really high first beta, then some brown spotting (meaning fairly small stains on a sanitary pad and enough to stain toilet paper when wiping). I was told that this was likely the loss of one of the implanted embryos but the other one was fine for a while.
With all of my miscarriages, I had bright red spotting and I've heard that unless you see the bright red, you are likely to be doing fine (except for all the worry of course).
You are far enough along and have good enough ultrasound results that at least one of your embryos sounds fantastic - I know that it's difficult not to worry though

I had brown spotting in my first 2 PG's, but for the third one I had red flow (it was there when I wiped, plus would come out in small clumps in the toilet or on the pad). PG #1 was successful, PG #2 was twin blighted ovums that didn't pass until we did a D&C, so I don't thik the spotting was related. PG #3 was m/c.

Your situation sounds more like my PG #1 (who will be 5 this week)- I had a hematoma that was probably the cause of the brown spotting. Also, the suppositories aggrevated my insides, so that could be the cause as well.

I hope all goes well tomorrow. I know how scary and stressful it is, even when it all turns out okay.

Thanks dinosaurd
I'm hoping that it is the second sac too. On my first ultrasound it already looked like the second sac was not viable.

Hoping that the scan can put your mind at rest. IT sounds as if this is nothing to worry about (as if!)

Spotting and brown are pretty normal. As long as it's not bright red and there isn't any cramping I'm sure you are fine.

I know it isn't exactly the same, and I'm sorry if it's too much information, but during my pregnancy I passed a huge clot. I thought for sure I had lost the baby. This clot was about 5" by 3" big. I rushed to emergency and after 3 hours found out that everything was fine, but I know how scary it is. I had other em. room visitors handing me kleenex because I wouldn't let my fiance leave me and I was crying uncontollably. Big hugs, and lots of thoughts here with you on your ultrasound tomorrow.

Hope it's not anything to worry about ... the off and on cramping sounds like normal early pg stuff, and brown blood sounds like old stuff that's just finally dribbling out. Hope the scan goes well and sets your mind at rest. Thinking of you.

No assvice here, sorry!
I do have one of those "got my period all through my pregnancy friends" (which to be honest, I don't know how that is possible).

That still sounds like spotting. I am hoping you got some good news today!

I've had bleeding of some sort almost every day since wk 5. (I'm 8w today, knock on wood.) It's been mostly brown but always full flow and always scary so I know how you must feel. As everyone else has said, I think the conventional wisdom is that brown is ok, red is not. You might have a hematoma or it could just be your body getting rid of old blood or a second sac. Good luck with your us tomorrow!!

I called my friend who is a GP and she says that brown is old, and not to worry unless it's red. SOunds like the second sac to me, and I am really hoping that's the root of it.
Let us know how the U/S goes. . . thinking of you.

Siobhan - It's Sharon (from the other thread). I have had red & brown blood 3 times for a week each since I got pg. (I am 13 wks.) They said it was probably my 2nd sac that didn't develop AND that I may have a cervix that bleeds easily..it looks like I am having a light period each time. (Scary but I have had an u/s after each one.) I know it doesn't answer the spotting/flow question but I wanted you to know you are not alone.
Sharon :)

Hi, I had bleeding at 8 weeks, 14 weeks and again sometime around 20 weeks when I was pregnant with my son, always brown and that's the key, brown is old, if it's red call the doc. Fingers crossed for you, I'm off to read the update...
